PURPLE's very first JUNIOR: BODIE OLMOS of "Battlestar Galactica"

By francis - Posted on 31 October 2008

When director Nathan Adolfson and I were casting for Junior in PURPLE's first production at the premiere of Francis Ford Coppola's New Play Marathon at UCLA, little did we know that we would touch so much of the sci-fi genre when we cast a shy low key actor who could morph into a hip hop spouting trash mouthed momma's boy the audience would fall in love with. Bodie is now world famous for his role in "Battlestar Galactica," which I have to confess I have never seen. Of course I am proud of his work on this successful tv show. But Bodie remains my old friend from way back, laid back, humble, and very real. I mean he still returns my emails, phone calls and FB messages for crying out loud. E.J. did a great job. Break a leg, Junior #1. Momma's proud of you.

Here is an excerpt from one of Bodie's fan sites that mentions his great work in WHEN THE PURPLE SETTLES at the Coppola Play Fest in 1999:
After high school, Bodie attended and graduated in 2000 from UCLA School of Theatre in Los Angeles. His first leading role at UCLA was in"When the Purple Settles." He took additional courses in acting and received a degree from the Sanford-Meisner Center where he was taught by Martin Barter. He enjoys live theatre and has performed in a revival of the Luis Valdez play Zoot Suit (the play which launched his father’s career) as the character of Tommy Roberts. He also performed in War at the Latino Theatre Company in the Los Angeles Theatre Center. At the Latino Theatre Lab he worked with Artistic Director Jose Luis Valenzuela, who is also a theatre professor at UCLA.

PS: As soon as I see other pics with Bodie's face to the camera, I will post it.
