PURPLE comes home to AMERICA: Feb 2009

I am happy to have given permission to a reprise showcase production of PURPLE at Tanghalang Ateneo where it received its world premiere under the direction of Yan Yuzon, now officially a rock star demi-god. This presentation is special because it features the 24th batch of new actors in Dr. Abad's esteemed student professional theatre company. Go Eagles!
PURPLE is all set to receive its American premiere at my home institution, the College of William and Mary (chartered 1693.) It will NOT be the first Asian American play on the historic PBK main stage as Diana Son's STOP KISS was staged with Caucasian American actors about two years ago.
My company IPAX is also doing fellow UCLA Bruin Michael Golamco's play COWBOY VS SAMURAI at the Commonwealth Auditorium, our biggest venture so far directed by our producing director Eddy Hong. COWBOY will indeed be the first Asian American play performed by REAL Asian Americans.
Reflecting its roots in the story of colonization, I plan to cast a diverse and multicultural production of talented and hard working William and Mary students who also worked with me on my latest new work, RAMAYANA LA'AR. Auditions are November 10-14.
